Dr. Terrence Murphy is a small business owner and lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley with a deep-rooted commitment to public service. His family originally moved to Yorktown in 1962 when Yorktown's mascot, the Cornhusker, was still a common and public sight.

He was elected to the Yorktown Town Board in 2009 and re-elected in 2013, delivering the first back-to-back tax cuts in a generation and ushering in $250 million in economic development projects. In 2014, he was elected to the New York State Senate with 55.3% of the vote, representing the 40th District, which includes portions of Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess Counties.

Today, Dr. Murphy continues to manage his chiropractic practice. Always keeping family first, Dr. Murphy's favorite time is spent with his wife Caroline, and children McKayla, Jack, and Kian.Read more.

Reinvesting in Yorktown

Dr. Terrence Murphy is running for a second term in the New York State Senate to fight for a future we can be proud of.

As a father of three, Dr. Murphy has a vested interest in the direction of New York State. During his first term as our Senator, Dr. Murphy has cut taxes, preserved services and open space. As a Councilman, he efficently managed his hometown for today while preparing it for tomorrow.

Dr. Murphy has paved the way for new businesses which will bring hundreds of jobs as well as affordable housing that our seniors can enjoy.

Our first tax cut in decades

As a lifelong resident and small businessman raising his family here, Dr. Murphy has a vested interest in the future of New York.

Dr. Murphy knows seniors and middle class families can no longer afford the skyrocketing taxes and overspending of an inefficent government. That is why he led the charge to CUT our taxes and delivered the first back-to-back property tax cuts in decades as a Councilman.

He has passed responsible budgets that cut taxes, opened our community for new businesses and restored honesty and integrity to local government.

Progress with Preservation

Protecting our environment is a nonpartisan issue.

Dr. Murphy believes clean energy projects are key to our future. That's why his family business was the first geothermal powered restaurant in Yorktown.

He was a leading voice for green jobs on the Town Board and helped secure a $1 million NYSERDA grant for solar panels in Yorktown. He also sponsored the town's ban on hydrofracking. He wants to keep our New York's pristine resources and clean water for future generations. Senator Murphy will continue to stand up to overdevelopment and favor smart growth projects.

Getting New York Open for Business

He doesn't just talk about putting his neighbors to work. He is doing it.

Dr. Terrence Murphy is in the business of taking care of people. As the owner of Yorktown Health Wellness Center, he takes care of his community both personally and professionally. He understands the struggles associated with running a business.
